- Trouble hit Brad's marriage when he had an affair with Lauren Fenmore, Traci's nemesis.
- Next, Lisa Mansfield, Brad's unstable ex-wife, kidnapped him and locked him in a cage. Eventually, Jack rescued Brad. Brad made his way home just as Traci was divorcing him.

- Tragically, Ashley lost her son, whom she named Robert, after getting in an automobile accident while on her way to confront Victor over a business deal.
- Brad and Ashley divorced and he remained Abby's primary parental caretaker. Brad and Victoria Newman began dating and after they wed, Victoria gave her new groom, preferential work duties.
- While on a business trip to New York, Brad and Sharon succumbed to their desires and had a one-night stand.
- Meanwhile, in the course of an investigation for Victor, Paul Williams and J.T. learned that the man who called himself Brad Carlton wasn't born with that name. They later discovered that Brad's real name is George Kaplan, an alias he assumed after his father, sister and aunt were brutally murdered when he was a teenager. He and his mother, Rebecca, were forced to go on the run because of her dangerous work of returning artwork stolen by the Nazis from Jewish families during World War II.
- In a dramatic stand-off in a church outside Cleveland, Ohio, Brad confronted the men who had killed his family, who were now holding Sharon hostage, and killed his enemies in self-defence.
- It was also revealed that Brad is Jewish, a part of his identity that he had kept hidden all these years. Brad found himself re-connecting with his heritage, and began educating daughters Colleen and Abby in the Jewish religion.
- Brad is being blackmailed by Phyllis as she is now aware of Brad’s indiscretion with Sharon.
